CARES

Do you want to create a safer community in Davis County, Utah? Then consider joining the CARES Coalition. The CARES Coalition is a group of community members who are working to reduce sexual violence in Davis County. A sad fact is more women experience sexual assault in Utah than the national average. Together we can do something about this! Please email beth@safeharborhope.org for more information on how you can help create a safer community.

The Community Allied Resources to End Sexual Violence (CARES) Coalition is an effort that began in Davis County in April of 2016 with the intention of preventing sexual violence. Sexual violence includes acts such as rape, sexual coercion, unwanted sexual contact such as fondling, as well as verbal sexual harassment. We know that one in three Utah women will experience some form of sexual violence during their lives. We know that one in eight Utah women and one in 50 Utah men has reported experiencing rape or attempted rape.

The Coalition is focused on primary prevention efforts, that take place before sexual violence has occurred to prevent initial perpetration or victimization.

The CARES Coalition meets once per month on a Thursday afternoon. Call in options are available! Learn more on our website http://safeharborhope. org/CARES.html or through facebook https://www.facebook. com/groups/1612090209113344/.

Description

Safe Harbor Crisis Center is the first and ONLY domestic violence and rape crisis center in Davis County, UT. Safe Harbor Crisis Center opened its doors in 1997 and served more than 300 adults and children in the first year of operation. Since then our services continued to expand to meet survivor and community needs. Our free comprehensive, client-centered services now include: Emergency Protective Shelter; Domestic Violence Outreach Services; Diversity Program; Children’s Services; 24-Hour Crisis Response; Transitional Housing; Sexual Assault Services; Protective Order Assistance; and Community Outreach and Education. Plus, in 2015 we launched an Economic Empowerment Program helps low-income domestic violence survivors with dependent children with job preparedness and work retention. We could not function without volunteers, who donated over 5,000 hours in the last year. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and hope you will join our team in ending violence in the community.
