ORGANIZATION: Heading Home

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 19 people are interested

Since 2011, Heading Home has housed over 3,000 men, women, children, and vets who were living on the streets or in shelters.

Our neighbors’ challenges don’t stop with a roof over their heads. They can feel isolated and struggle with simple things like shopping, cooking, doing laundry, making appointments and getting out and about. But YOU can help! Heading Home is looking for 10 teams of 3-4 volunteers who will serve as mentors and companions to support our clients as they make the transition back into the community. If you would like to learn more about volunteering on a Home Team, please call Kristy Anderson at (505) 344-2323.

The next volunteer orientation will be in mid-June.

For other volunteer opportunties, please contact Charlie Moore-Pabst at 505-344-2323 ext. 200 or charliem@headinghome.org.

Mission Statement

We envision an Albuquerque where homelessness is rare, short-lived and nonrecurring.

Description

We are an Albuquerque based 501c3 non-profit organization, established in 2004. Heading Home is the backbone agency for ABQ Heading Home, a community wide initiative that aims to end chronic homelessness in Albuquerque. Along with our community partners in the for-profit, non-profit, private, public, and political sectors, we are providing permanent, supportive housing solutions to people who are medically vulnerable and are experiencing chronic homelessness. The ABQ Heading Home initiative has housed over 800 individuals since it began in 2011. Head Home also provides emergency shelter each night for 88 adult men experiencing homelessness through the Albuquerque Opportunity Center (AOC).
