Electricians needed in India for Community Development!

Are you an electrician who would like to put your skills and compassion to work? Join us for two weeks or more in India!

The Electricians in India Program for will provide professional electrician skills to the organization as an entity at its headquarters base, and will also provide job skills training to Dalits and other poor, marginalized peoples as a means to provide them with marketable skills to earn an adequate income.

Qualified applicants could contribute in the following ways:

• Work with our partner’s headquarters team, learn about our work, culture, the types of structures built in India and their electrical needs, the electrical engineering customs and practices of the construction and electricians industry in India. Further learn about the Dalit, poor marginalized people, their economic needs, and how electrician skills can empower them to better livelihood.
• In cooperation with partner leadership, develop an electrician’s skills training class that will be relevant to a wide variety of types of people (i.e., older teenage boys as technical education; church leaders needing a vocation; men coming out of addiction needing to earn an honest wage, etc.), and transferable to a variety of cultures within India. Document the curriculum, run pilot programs, make revisions and implement.
• Train Indian trainers/leaders to take over the electrician’s training program and implement it on a national and regional level.
