Middle Grade Classroom

Volunteers like yourself deliver Junior Achievement's JA Global Marketplace program to Edison Middle School 6th graders and Red Smith 7th grade students.

Like those sneakers? They're made in China with rubber from Brazil, cotton from India, color dye from Vietnam, and recycled plastic from Honduras. Such practical examples help students see how goods flow in the world economy and theeffect globalization has on their lives.

This hands-on JA program consists of six 45 minute visits to the same classroom. You and the teacher determine the schedule of your visits (starting mid November).

It's easy to become a JA classroom volunteer. Regardless of your background or experience, Junior Achievement's unique delivery system provides the training, materials and support you need to ensure a positive and fun experience.

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement will prepare young people to successfully navigate their economic future. Through learning experiences that simulate future success and support career discovery, JA programs provide students with the financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills that they will need to become responsible citizens and succeed in a global economy.

Description

Junior Achievement has been helping Wisconsin youth to recognize how their talent and abilities can create better lives for themselves and those around them since 1941. JA brings volunteers from the community face to face with students for the simplest of human interaction--sharing. Volunteers make economic concepts relevant, fuel the entrepreneurial spirit, and challenge the students to excel. Annually over 133,000 young people, kindergarten through 12th grade, participate in programs to help them use information, think critically, and solve complex problems.
