About Fox Valley SCORE Chapter 289 - East (DuPage)

Location:

1120 E. Diehl Road, Suite 201, Naperville, IL 60563, US

Mission Statement

SCORE is the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors with more than 10,000 volunteers in 300 chapters. As a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), SCORE has helped more than 11 million entrepreneurs through mentoring, workshops and educational resources since 1964. Our approximately 100 chapter members share their business knowledge and experience by providing free counseling to anyone who is operating a small business or thinking about starting one. In addition, we provide free and low cost workshops and seminars on topics vital to non-profits and small businesses alike. While the Fox Valley SCORE chapter has counseling offices throughout the western suburbs of Chicago, covering the 8 counties of DuPage, Kane, Will, DeKalb, Kendall, McHenry, Winnebago and Boone, a meeting with a client can take place wherever coffee is served. Fox Valley SCORE operates throughout our territory.

Description

Our chapter is seeking volunteers to fill the following roles: Mentor (works directly with chapter clients to help the client’s business succeed and prosper); Subject Matter Expert (provide knowledge and experience in a specific set of business skills which are called upon at time of client need, or in training clients or other volunteers, SMEs may co-mentor as appropriate); Workshop Presenters present workshops; and Volunteers work in support of the SCORE mission and vision by handling myriad of administrative and support tasks to operate the Chapter. Volunteers do not mentor clients. All of these positions allow volunteers to allocate as much of their time to SCORE as they wish. Unlike other volunteer organizations, your work with SCORE is area-specific rather than location specific, in that we meet with clients where it is mutually convenient, and a great number of our workshops and roundtables are conducted in community based locations (libraries, banks, chambers of commerce).
