After training, you will assist designated patients at mealtimes; these are people who have lost the ability to feed themselves. You can provide encouragement and nourishment by giving verbal cues to eat, physically guiding patients to feed themselves, and spoon-feeding those individuals who are dependent upon caregivers. Requirements: There is a one hour training session carried out by a speech and language pathologist and then on-the-job training with a nursing assistant.
