Since its inception in October 2003, Small Angels Rescue, Inc. has saved over 4,000 guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, and gerbils from euthanasia, abuse, and abandonment. We are a young, growing, all-volunteer, registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves an area of desperate need in the community. We do not have a physical location but instead have a network of volunteers in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia tri-state area.

Here is what the Treasurer position entails:

The Treasurer is a member of the Board of Directors and oversees financial matters, compiles quarterly and annual financial reports, including the annual budget, ensures official government paperwork is filed, tracks donor information, and presides at meetings when the President, Vice President and Secretary are unavailable. The Treasurer works with the Bookkeeper. Attendance at monthly board meetings is mandatory. Board meetings are held once a month on a Sunday at 4pm for about 2 hours and convene in Frederick, MD. Every other month they are on a Monday via teleconference at 6:30 p.m. for an hour.

The position will require a commitment of around 3-4 hours per monthly. Each board term is 2 years.

Prior experience with accounting and finance is required and prior experience as a Treasurer on a Board of Directors is preferred.
