Red kettle

Do you have 4-8 hours to spare this Christmas Season? That's all it takes to help those who need us most! Become a Volunteer Bell Ringer during the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign.

Every November and December, people across the United States see The Salvation Army wearing its most public face, reminding everyone that we answer the needs of families who need food, shelter, and clothing, not only at this most special season, but throughout the year.

Unfortunately for some, the holiday season can mean unmanageable expenses, disappointed children and empty stomachs. Friendly volunteers can ring the bell alone, in pairs, or in small groups. By ringing the bell, you are encouraging pedestrians and shoppers to put a donation in the Red Kettle. Anyone can help! Consider including your children - children love the hands on activity and it’s the perfect way for parents to teach their children about giving during the holiday season. Have a competition with other families, other local clubs or organizations to see who can raise the most. The Salvation Army will provide the kettle equipment.

The funds that are raised go to operate our local Choice Food Pantry, character-building youth programs, basic needs assistance programs, and Christmas Cheer - our food and toy program for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thousands of residents in our community benefit each year because of the generosity of those donating to the Red Kettle. In Southwest New Jersey, our locations can be found at most local malls, area Walmart stores, Acme Markets, Sam's Clubs, as well as a few other locations! Our Season for Red Kettles is from Thursday, November 17, 2016 (except Sundays) through Christmas Eve and we have locations all over Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties.

Can you help us? If you said "Yes", we will need the following information:

  • Adult Group leader name and cell phone number.
  • General geographic region where you would want to volunteer.
  • Day (s) you would like to volunteer. (You can volunteer more than once)
  • Shift preference - All Day, 10am - 4pm or 4pm - 9pm (Volunteers may be stationed indoors or outside of the kettle location)
  • Give us one week notice and 2-3 days which would work best for you. (Remember - not Sunday)
  • If you are ringing the bell by yourself, you must be at least 18 years of age.

Youth groups must be accompanied by an adult.

Perhaps you cannot donate time, but would like to donate financially. You can do so by texting CAMDEN to 91999 or donate on our website at www.camdenkroccenter.org.
