The Client Coordinator helps to make sure our clients feel welcome and that we are able to assist them in preparing their tax returns at a VITA site. You will assist clients in completing the IRS required intake forms, ensure they meet the guidelines for the VITA site and assist them at the end of the process assembling the final returns. Specific tax training or IRS tax preparation certification is NOT required.
Volunteers are asked to attend a 4 hour training class offered several times in January.
Volunteers sign up for one 4-hour shift per week. The site is open Monday-Thursday from 4:30-900 pm, Thursdays from 1 pm to 5 pm, Saturdays from 9 am to 5:30 and Sundays from 1-5.
Our most urgent need is on Thursdays from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm.

Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 that provides free federal and state tax preparation services to low-income individuals and families. We serve clients during the tax season at sites in DC, MD, and VA. CTA provides representation to our clients who receive notices from the IRS or state tax agencies and also prepares some tax returns during the off-season.
