The loan closet is to assist with the unmet equipment needs of St. Luke’s patients, employees, family members, and community members when no other source of funding exists for medical equipment upon discharge from the hospital or if a need arises outside of the hospital. Your gift is one that will keep on giving. The loan closet accepts donations of equipment including wheelchairs, walkers/canes, hospital beds, bariatric supplies, shower chairs, and more! The loan closet is located at 810 1st Ave SE | Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
Volunteer shifts are available Tuesdays and Thursday 3:00pm-7:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm. The loan closet attendant would be responsible for taking and returning phone calls into the loan closet phone requesting equipment and/or wanting to donate equipment. The attendant would be responsible for setting up appointments to view potential equipment for donation and to also assist consumers with signing out loan closet medical equipment as well as having them fill out designated paperwork. The attendant will input all information into an excel spreadsheet. The attendant would be responsible for disinfecting and cleaning protocol of equipment coming in as well as checking the equipment for any damage.
