Want to help the children worst affected by the plight of poverty? This program is for you! The organization is running their own school located in the neighborhood of needy communities. We work among these children under the Street Children, Education Project with the support of international volunteers. We provide them with free education, educational materials, uniforms and play materials. The volunteers are mainly focusing on the ways needed for the upliftement of these children. They are taught general knowledge, etiquette/norms and manners while talking, sitting, moving, eating, reading, speaking, etc. We accomplish this with the help of the class teacher and the volunteers. Sports and games are conducted to develop their physical stamina. Basic amenities needed for the street children to prepare them for school going are provided by the organization with the support of international volunteers.

Volunteer work activities

  • Teach basic English and Mathematics, color and shapes, animal and sounds etc.
  • Learn tips about getting dressed, manners, art activities etc.
  • Creativity exercises like drawing, painting, music and dance etc.
  • Ensure regular attendance of children by motivating them.
  • Promoting basic hygiene awareness amongst children
  • Developing motor skills of the children by making them use body parts through playing games.

Project requirements

  • Duration - Minimum of 2 weeks to 4 weeks (short term) and from 5-24 weeks (long Term) onwards.
  • Age limit - Above 18+ and maximum age depends on participant's health.
  • Qualification- Minimum qualification is high school, basic English communication, no language barrier, does not require any previous experience. If you have, you can lead a team or group and impact on street children and education project you work with us.
  • Visa type - Your trips fall under the category of volunteer tourism and you will need to obtain a tourist or work visa to India.

Description

Kenosis Foundation (KF) is a not-for-profit voluntary organization, registered (Reg # 166/2013-2014) on 29th June 2013, under Sec.7 of the Indian Trusts Act 1882. We focus on rural areas and support women and the children of widows, single moms, abuse victims, victims of physical harassment, and disadvantaged, underprivileged and the economically weaker sections of society. Our head office is located in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka State, India.

We identify poorest of the poor rural villages and work for causes ranging from child welfare, health and education, economic empowerment for women, creating employment opportunities for dropout and underprivileged youths, health and hygiene in communities and schools, After School Programs, Women Self Help Groups (SHG’s), Teach English and Computer, Bio-organiz forming, Animal healthcare, Solidwaste management, building and renovation of beneficiaries homes and schools, youth vocational skill training, organize campaign and training, summer and health camps, life skills education in rural villages and schools, Renovation of beneficiaries house and construction of toilet, women's empowerment and empowering women to start self business and income generating (IGP) activities. Kenosis is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in rural India.
