We practice sustainable agriculture on a small scale here at Common Ground Garden- and we need someone to make it look big with their great photography skills! We run a number of programs, and we would love to have someone with an interest in expanding their portfolio in the gardening realm to come and shoot some of our work, from time to time.
In terms of events to shoot:
- we run volunteer sessions for adults on Wednesdays from 10-12
- we often have other opportunities come up, such as Saturday classes
- during the school year we run a youth education program
- the Harvest Potluck happens in October
- the Edible Garden Tour happens in July
Our crops, as they mature, also need some attention as they develop into local organic vegetables at the peak of their deliciousness! At the moment, the zucchini, tomatoes, amaranth, beans, and quinoa are ready for their close-ups! We also post blogs, featured in our newsletter explaining problems that afflict our plants, and what can be done about it. And, its never a bad idea to capture blooms in the garden, such as on our fruit trees, and showy herbs like our bee-balm.
An hour every week or two, on average, would be sufficient to capture new developments in the garden.
Lastly, you could retain ownership of your photos, but we would ask that you let us (Common Ground Garden and Ecology Action, our parent non-profit) use them for any purpose. Mainly we post photos on our social media accounts, newsletters, and for advertisements and fliers. We may also use them for formal publications and would acknowledge you appropriately.
Please let us know if you are interested, or have any questions or concerns!
Future opportunites within this position might inlcude social media posts and guest blogging.

About Common Ground Garden
Location:

Mission Statement
Common Ground Garden transforms our students’ relationships to food by inspiring them to eat mindfully, to make healthy and sustainable food choices, and ultimately to grow their own food through biologically-intensive, sustainable gardening practices.
Description
Our community garden is a place of hands-on learning for all ages.
Common Ground Garden offers free classes with a unique approach to sustainable living: growing soil to grow food and community. This means we start with making nutritious soil (without depleting other sources), which inevitably leads to healthy plants and healthy people. By empowering people to then teach others in their community, this becomes a powerful cycle that perpetuates itself.
