Mission Be is expanding and seeking a Volunteer Director of Marketing. The Volunteer Director of Marketing will manage all aspects of marketing and communications for the organization. The Volunteer Director of Marketing will work closely with other senior members of the Mission Be team including the CEO, CFO, and Directors of Community Outreach to take the organization into it’s next phase of growth.
About Mission Be: Mission Be is a start-up non-profit bringing mindfulness to schools and communities as an antidote to stress, violence, bullying and addiction. Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention in the present moment, and doing it intentionally and with non-judgment. Typical activities in our mindfulness programs include interactive lessons on the science of mindfulness, guided breathing practices, role plays, affirmations, and mindful sitting, walking, eating, listening and speaking exercises.
Since launching in 2013, we have successfully implemented our mindful education curriculum with over 600 educators trained, over 7,000 children directly impacted and 22,000 indirectly impacted through our professional development program.
The Volunteer Director of Marketing will play a key role in helping Mission Be reach its goal of impacting 1200 teachers, 150,000 students and and 140 schools in the next five years.
Responsibilities include:
Media Marketing:
Design a marketing and recruitment strategies for all Mission Be programs
Oversee the development of all marketing collateral
Social Media:
Update and oversee social media campaigns and continually add visibility to the brand
Oversee social media strategy and implementation
Other
Manage website (wordpress experience prefered)
Develop media and press releases
Maintain and grow network of contacts
Manage PR, media relations and fundraising events including identifying and pitching stories for print, online, radio, and TV media channels
Create and maintain media kits to be sent to key media outlets

Mission Be brings mindfulness based social emotional learning programs to schools as an antidote to stress, violence, bullying and addiction, thereby increase the number of thriving, happy and peaceful children in the world.
Problem we are solving School children around the world are unable to fulfill their academic and life potential due to limited training in skills to overcome emotional and mental challenges. These challenges can come from chronic academic and social pressures at school and home.
Our Solution Mindfulness Based Social Emotional Learning. Mission Be’s offers mindfulness based educational programs to train for students to better manage stress and regulate emotions. Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention in the present moment, and doing it intentionally and with non-judgment.
Expected immediate outcomes based on this research for our mindfulness programs for students and educators include reduced stress and improved physical well-being, increased focus, improved emotion regulation, increased emotional intelligence, increased empathy and respect, and increased resilience and self confidence.
