***Due to COVID-19 Precautions and to ensure the safety of our patients and volunteers we are currently not placing volunteers with patients. However, you may get involved by sending homemade cards to our office to distribute to our patients (birthday, thinking of you, words of encouragement, etc). We will be updating this listing as more information becomes available. Please email kari.floreslefranc@silverado.com for more information. Updated 6.22.2020
Are you a military Veteran? Would you like to make a difference in the lives of fellow Veterans who are in hospice care?
Silverado Hospice of Austin is part of the We Honor Veterans program with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHCPO) and the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). It is our honor to care for our Veterans to provide end-of-life care. We are seeking volunteers who are Veterans and would like to provide companionship and socialization for the Veteran patients.
We ask that you commit at least twice a month for a minimum of 6 months; some volunteers are able to give a few hours a week or every other week - it is flexible to your schedule! All volunteers must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, TB skin test or X-ray, and have reliable transportation.
You will undoubtedly find your volunteer experience with Silverado to be rewarding, educational, and life changing as you positively affect the hearts and spirits our Veterans receiving end-of-life care.
