Picknelly Adult and Family Education Center206 Maple Street, Room 310Holyoke, MA 01040

Every year in Holyoke adults come to class to learn the English speaking/listening, vocabulary, grammar and reading/writing skills they need to navigate daily life, get a job or go to school.

***Russian-speakers needed for tutoring Russians who are learning English***

Volunteer tutors work in a class, providing individual and small group support to these adult learners. Tutors become a valued part of the class, giving students more support and allowing them to progress faster.

Tutors may work one-on-one with a learner who is struggling, allow the teacher to divide the class in small groups, or work with the whole class to provide practical and moral support.

Tuesday/Thursday evenings.

No formal teaching/tutoring experience is needed - just good communication skills, a desire to help and willingness to learn! You do not have to speak another language to tutor with ESOL classes - but Russian speakers are particularly needed.

Training is provided. All volunteers complete a free 12 hour training workshop series.
