Volunteer tutors in the Adult Education and Career Development Program at Lutheran Settlement House work with adult learners on basic math and literacy, GED test prep, and improving digital literacy skills.
Volunteers should be able to commit 3-5 hours/week for a minimum of 6 months. Tutoring hours are from 9 AM - 7:30 PM. Tutors will work with adult learners on either an individual basis or in small groups. Tutors are provided with all needed curriculum materials and a learning plan. Hours are flexible and based on volunteer and learner schedules.
Volunteers are also asked to complete a Tutor Now: Fundamentals of Adult Learning with the city's Office of Adult Education and attend a 90-minute orientation at Lutheran Settlement House. Volunteers are required to have a Bachelor's degree or be enrolled in college courses and will be asked to complete clearance forms.
