Mentors are welcome to our Study Skills class at Venado Middle School in Irvine Unified School District!

Provide a strong focus on goal setting, time management, growth mindset strategies, as well homework completion and test preparation for students that need extra guidance and mentoring. You may choose to support students on your subject matter of preference.

What to expect:

• Mentors are matched into small groups with 7th and/or 8th grade students to engage students to set and reach positive academic, career and personal goals. They assist students to complete homework and prepare for upcoming assessments under the guidance of a Certificated teacher and an Instructional Assistant, who are present at all times.
• Study Skills takes place during the regular school day of the traditional academic year (August-May).
• The preferred commitment is at least 1 or 2 periods per week.
• Mentors will receive training to be ready to join a classroom, start dates flexible, as are future shifts.
