Accommodation is provided by one of our carefully selected host families. These are families who have experience with outside culture and international living through cultural exchange with our students and volunteers.


Design and deliver a school-vacation environmental program in the Galapagos. During their school vacation, about 50 children ages 10-14 of Isla Isabela participate in a day camp sponsored by the National Park. Volunteers are needed to design and plan the program during throughout January, then carry out the program as teachers and counselors in February and March. Support and guidance will be provided by National Park and IOI staff.

Key functions:

1. Become familiar with natural and educational resources of Isla Isabela.
2. In consultation with staff, write programming for 5 weeks of 6 hour days.
3. Programming should be active, rather than classroom-oriented.
4. Act as teacher/counselor to a group of approximately 15 students during the five week program.

Age requirements:

Adults of both sexes 21+


Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Outdoor Education. Advanced or Native Speaker Spanish skills. Experience working with pre-teen or middle school children.


Free accommodation and inter-island transport included as well as visa.


Educaci?n Ambiental en las Islas Gal?pagos: Descripci?n: Dise?ar y entregar programa del medio ambiente durante la escuela vacacional en las Islas Gal?pagos. Durante sus vacaciones de la escuela, cerca de 50 ni?os entre las edades de 10-14 de Isla Isabela participan en un campamento de d?a patrocinado por el Parque Nacional. Se necesitan voluntarios para dise?ar y planificar el programa en enero, y luego llevar a cabo el programa como los maestros y consejeros durante febrero y principios de marzo. Apoyo y orientaci?n ser?n proporcionados por personal del Parque y un profesor estadounidense certificada.
Funciones principales: 1. Familiarizarse con los recursos naturales y educativos de la Isla Isabela. 2. En consulta con el personal, escribir programaci?n para 5 semanas de d?as 6 horas. 3. Requisitos: Licenciatura en Educaci?n Ambiental o Recreacion al Aire Libre. Bilinguel o nativo en idioma espa?ol. Experiencia trabajando con pre-adolescentes o los ni?os de la escuela intermediaria.
