Help take arts and culture to the next level in Washington County, Oregon.

Our board of directors currently meets every other month August to June. Our meetings are at 4:30pm on the second Tuesday of the month in Beaverton. Help shape the future of arts in the county with us!

The WCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was founded in 2003.

WCA Priorities: Represent the diverse Washington County community. Be a source of local arts and culture information and connections. Support artists and arts, culture and heritage organizations. Build community through the arts. Develop arts, culture and heritage champions.

Board Member Qualifications

  • Interest in furthering the mission and goals of the WCA
  • Willingness and ability to give the time necessary to become an effective member of the board
  • Experience and knowledge relating to the arts in one or more of the following areas: arts education, business management, community outreach, finance, grant writing, non-profit management, program development, public relations/marketing, strategic planning
  • Willingness to raise funds and provide resource development for established goals and programs related to the WCA.
  • Familiarity with issues, concerns, and trends in arts, culture, heritage, and humanities in Washington County.

Appointments to the board

  • Open recruitment using application process and referrals.
  • Development Committee reviews applicants and makes recommendation to the board.
  • Board confirms or denies appointment, or requests additional information.
  • Nominees are notified of their appointments by the Executive Director.
  • Board Terms are three years unless modified. Board members can be reappointed indefinitely.

Board Member Obligations

  • Remain active and engaged for the duration of term.
  • Attend all Westside Cultural Alliance meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Arrive on time and stay for the duration of board meetings.
  • Serve on at least one board sub-committee.
  • Participate in WCA activities and events.
  • Participate in an annual planning retreat.
  • Communicate effectively with other members and staff.
  • Serve on other projects and committees as determined by the board.
  • Act only as authorized by the board.
  • Make an annual financial contribution to the organization.
