We are recruiting substitute readers for our PreK-3rd Grade Read Aloud Program - join us for fall 2016!

Read Aloud Program (RAP) - RAP is a read-aloud program focused on preschool through third grade education in low income communities across San Diego County. This program motivates children to develop a passion for reading. Dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers devote their time reading aloud weekly or bi-weekly to children in the classroom. These sessions go far beyond just reading a story, creating life-long readers and life-long learners.

As a substitute reader, you will be on a mailing list for contact when a regularly scheduled reader cannot make their session. This opportunity brings great variety and a wonderful introduction to the many classrooms that Words Alive partners with through this program. Please note that we cannot always provide ample notice for substitute needs, but that opportunities are first come-first serve and there is no obligation to sign on for every opportunity. If you like spontaneity and a reading to children, this is for you!

What you'll need:

• Volunteer Application
• Current TB test (from within four years of read date)
• Background check (through ADP - very secure process)
• Read Aloud Program Training
