During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Hospice of the Chesapeake is a fully licensed, community-based non-profit organization. We provide services to terminally ill patients at the place that they call home - regardless of their age or ability to pay.
What is the Tuck-In Program?
Our patients and families are receiving care in their homes all over Prince George’s and Anne Arundel County. As such, it is extremely important that we maintain lines of communications to ensure the needs of our patients and families are met in a timely manner.
In efforts to prepare for the upcoming weekend, our committed group of Tuck In volunteers dedicate a mininal of 2 - 3 hours each month on a Thursday morning to the contact our hospice families via telephone to ensure each family has the necessary supplies needed over the weekend.
The team meets at either our Pasadena campus at 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena MD 21122 or our Mandarin Inpatient Center in Harwood Maryland depending on their preferences. These tuck-in calls take place each week, but we only ask for a minimal commitment from our volunteers to participate at least 1 Thursday a month with the option to do more if there is interest. Training is provided, of course, and we allow prospective volunteers to shadow with the exisiting team. Those who inquire must provide excellent customer service, act as an active listener, and be comfortable documenting calls.
