Seniors First offers a Recreation and Respite Adult Day program to provide activities for seniors with physical or cognitive impairments and respite for their caregivers.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Games, music, exercise, crafts, adventures with pets, and more are offered to participants of the Recreation & Respite Program, designed for the enjoyment of older adults with Alzheimer's or dementia and to provide much needed time off for their caregivers. The program is offered every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Twelve Bridges Library in Lincoln and every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Seniors First office in Auburn from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteers are the heart of this program. This creative and energetic group forms one-on-one relationships with participants and works in small group settings to provide a reassuring presence, supervision, set-up, cleaning, lunch and snack duties, and sharing.
Volunteers add to the friendly atmosphere by:
- Offering companionship, support, and reassurance to participants.
- Supervising participants.
- Helping with program set-up, clean-up, and attending staff meetings.
- Assisting with snack and lunch.
- Sharing talents and interests to create a more enriched program.

Improving the Lives of Placer County Seniors In a perfect world, every senior would have enough food to eat, a warm, safe place to live, access to reliable transportation, and opportunities for human interaction and connection. Over 86,000 senior citizens reside in Placer County, many of whom do not have access to these critical quality of life services. Seniors First exists to provide programs, services and long-term support to Placer County seniors so that they may maintain their independence as long as possible. Seniors first is working to make this vision a reality by offering programs that provide:
- safe and reliable transportation
- nutritious meals
- adult day care & socialization
- visits to the homebound
- caregiver support
- home modifications and safety repairs
- assistance with housing placement
- information and referral resources for seniors
All Placer County seniors living in Western Placer County are eligible for Seniors First services, including the communities of Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Colfax, Auburn and Granite Bay.
