FOSTER COORDINATOR

Working under the County Directors, Foster Coordinators can cover a variety of duties to assist the County Directors with managing the foster program. These duties include recruiting, interviewing and prepare fosters to take a pet. Completing vet checks and background checks. Setting up home interviews for each foster and conducting interview.

Foster Coordinators may also coordinate the transport of animal, do actual transport, coordinate grooming and medical visits and make follow-up phone calls to fosters as outlined in program.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • The basic methods and procedures of kennel and crate cleaning.

  • The basic methods and laws for safe animal transport.


Ability to-

  • Deal courteously and calmly with the foster.

  • Transmit information promptly and clearly to fosters and foster program team members.

  • Handle animals safely and effectively, including canines, felines, aviary and other small domestic animals.

  • Adhere to strict confidentiality policy.

Training and/or Education

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Licenses or Certificates

Required:

  • Valid driver's license

  • Functional car equipped for animal transport

  • Valid license and registration for car


Preferred:

  • Experience working in an animal shelter, kennel or boarding facility or with an animal welfare or rescue group.

  • American Red Cross Pet First Aid

  • Animal Control Officer

  • CERT

  • CART

  • Dog Trainer

  • Vet Tech
