Breakthrough partners with those affected by poverty to build connections, develop skills and open doors of opportunity.

Breakthrough relies on volunteer assistance and could use help in these areas:


Skill Building & Adult Literacy

Responsibilities include: Assist adults with job readiness skills, financial literacy or GED tutoring.


Weekday Kitchen Assistant

Responsibilities include: Work alongside kitchen staff to prepare healthy meals for homeless guests.

Fresh Market Pantry Assistant

Responsibilities include: Help alleviate hunger by setting up the pantry and assisting shoppers(this is a free shopping experience for the guests).

There are nearly 500,000 participants across the nation who are providing valuable services in their communities.

Description

RSVP members may choose from a list of agencies in Chicago that have a signed agreement with the RSVP office. Volunteer assignments are made according to volunteers’ skills and interests and the needs of the stations.

Each volunteer position has different time requirements. RSVP strives to help you find opportunities that match your interest and scheduling needs. You will then work with your station supervisor to finalize your schedule. This will include time for orientation and training.
