We’re One Brick Boston, and we make volunteering fun, easy, and social with no long-term committment required. Want to volunteer once a month? You're our new best friend! Only have time to volunteer once a year? You must be very busy and important, but we are here when you have time.

  • Our mission is to create a community of volunteers by offering fun opportunities for individuals to serve local nonprofits. We provide a calendar of volunteer and social events to help people get involved, have an impact, and have fun!
  • We work with over 60 local nonprofits and provide a variety of unique and fun volunteer opportunities

  • We hold around 12-15 volunteer events per month that consist of 2-5 hours of pure giving back goodness

  • After volunteering, we regroup at a local eatery or bar to socialize and celebrate a job well-done.

  • We also hold monthly socials and other fun events across the greater Boston area, to allow One Brick volunteers a chance to get to know each other even better, and to truly build a sense of community among our volunteers!

Our area of impact is Greater Boston (Boston (all neigborhoods), Cambridge, Brooklne, Somerville, Malden, Newton, Quincy, Revere, etc.) in areas accessible by MBTA bus, subway, or trolleys.

We’ve worked with over 120 nonprofits since we've started in Boston in late 2011 and have provided 26,500+ hours of support to benefit our community. Some nonprofits we work with include More Than Words, Friday Night Supper, Room to Grow, Community Servings, Prison Book Program, American Red Cross, New England Center and Home for Veterans, Bikes Not Bombs, and many more!

We do things like:

  • Prepare and serve meals for local residents in need

  • Disassemble and sort bicycles to be shipped to developing countries

  • Sort and scan books alongside youth at a youth-run business

  • Provide volunteer support to fundraiser galas supporting local charities
  • Help judge high school debate competitions

And much much more!

One Brick Boston is a 100% volunteer run organization. Everyone that keeps One Brick Boston going behind the scenes loves giving back just like you. After all, why else would you be browsing a site solely devoted to finding you a great volunteer opportunity?

So come volunteer. And socialize. Give back to this city that we love.

Mission Statement

One Brick provides support to local non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. We enable people to get involved, have an impact and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitments.

Description

Headquartered in San Francisco, California, One Brick is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings volunteers together to support other local non-profits by adopting an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering, and after each volunteer event -- which typically lasts only 3 to 4 hours -- we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or caf where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting.

Our 'commitment-free volunteering' allows you to choose when you volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.
