Mission Statement
Pets for Vets enriches the lives of Veterans by creating a Super Bond with custom trained working animals.
Description
Pets for Vets selects shelter animals for each veteran to match his or her personality. Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the shelter dogs using positive reinforcement and teach the dogs foundational behaviors and skills to fit into the Veteran's lifestyle. Training can include desensitization to wheelchairs or crutches and recognizing and reacting to panic or anxiety disorder behaviors. Each pet will be spayed or neutered, healthy, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Each veteran-pet match is provided with all of the necessary equipment to start their new life together. This program is provided at no cost to the Veteran.
