The AARP Tax Aide Program sponsors free tax preparation services for low and moderate income individuals, families and seniors. Volunteer tax preparers and greeters are needed for the 2016 tax year.

Use your skills to make a difference! Volunteer tax preparers receive 5 days of free training on tax law and tax preparation software: December 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 at the Guilderland Library. Greeters receive 2 hours of training on December 5th. Greeters take a 10 question IRS standards of conduct exam. Tax prep arers take the standards of conduct exam, but must also must pass an IRS promulgated certification test. The test is on-line and open book.

Tax Aide sites will begin tax preparation in February 2017. Volunteer locations, days and times are flexible.
