Volunteers are invited to join us in an annual bird count that happens across the country - the Christmas Bird Count is the longest running citizen science project in the world. 2016 marks 117th CBC!
Tahoma Audubon's CBC will occur on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the Tacoma metropolitan area. Specific locations called 'circles' are used, and you are invited to join one of the circles.
No experience is necessary. Bird identification skills are helpful, but you will be with a team of birders working together to identify species and count birds. Be a part of history, contribute to scientific knowledge, and aid bird conservation efforts.
This event happens regardless of weather conditions, so dress and plan appropriately.
At the end of the day, there will be an optional gathering at the Tacoma Nature Center to share a meal and report back on the day's activities and bird sightings. Donations are requested to cover food costs only. Participation in the CBC is free.
