In the Greater Washington, D.C. area struggling neighborhoods, community-based organizations (CBOs) provide direct services to youth and families. Such groups help pick up where schools and families fall short, especially in the college preparation and guidance process. Throug direct service volunteers will work with youth to build a college-bound culture among first-generation and traditionally underserved student populations.
Ideal Candidates should:
Have experience in education or youth and young adult support
Have a passion for working with youth (16-24 year olds)
Knowledge or experience of working with at risk youth is a plus.
Former work experience in the DC/MD public school system or university system a plus
