In the Greater Washington, D.C. area struggling neighborhoods, community-based organizations (CBOs) provide direct services to youth and families. Such groups help pick up where schools and families fall short, especially in the college preparation and guidance process. Throug direct service volunteers will work with youth to build a college-bound culture among first-generation and traditionally underserved student populations.

Ideal Candidates should:

Have experience in education or youth and young adult support

Have a passion for working with youth (16-24 year olds)

Knowledge or experience of working with at risk youth is a plus.

Former work experience in the DC/MD public school system or university system a plus

ReServe is an innovative nonprofit that matches continuing professionals age 55+ (ReServists) with organizations that need their expertise. Nonprofits and public agencies (Partners) can tap into a lifetime of experience to fill crucial staffing gaps at affordable rates. ReServists can do great things for their communities while they put their professional expertise to work on part-time service projects, in exchange for a modest hourly stipend.

Description

ReServists provide direct services, administrative support, and capacity-building expertise in schools, social service agencies, cultural institutions, and public agencies. Many use their experience with ReServe to launch new careers in the nonprofit sector.

ReServe is supported by private and public grants and individual donations. The ReServist stipend is paid by the employers, who also pay a small program fee.

ReServe(r) is a subsidiary of Fedcap(r).
