Our goal at Kids Vision for Life St. Louis is to eliminate poor vision and its life long consequences to students in grades K-6th. Our volunteers go with us to elementary schools and conduct vision screenings to students in 7 different districts. The students who fail the screenings are then sent to one of our doctors where we provide free glasses and a free eye exam at no cost to the families. The volunteers help us screen the kids using wall charts to determine distance acuity and near cards to test the students near vision.
Our team conducts vision screenings at a different elementary school almost every week day from 9:00am-2:00pm. Because we travel to a different location each day, we have created a SignUpGenius website where volunteers can see our monthly schedule and sign up for the dates that work well with them.
Also, we understand that everyone has a busy schedule and so we are flexible if you can only come for a few hours at a time. Volunteers will be trained the day of the screening 15-30 minutes before we start. Our process is very easy to learn and our team is there to help guide and answer any questions for the volunteers.
Here is the link to our volunteer website that has our monthly schedule.
