Rainier Hospice is seeking a few dedicated volunteers to join our team in the rewarding field of walking with others on the journey that will lead them from this life. We are open to whatever gifts you present to our patients and their families. Some will share musical ability; reading to patients; running errands; most will listen carefully to the concerns and thoughts of those who are in need of comfort and care. Some volunteers choose to work in our offices supporting our work there.

Our volunteers are an integral part of our team and respected as though they were employees. Hospice work is rewarding and appreciated by all those who are touched by your loving kindness. It is not for everyone, but if you have a "hospice heart" we will see that you have the opportunity to express it. It is a win-win experience. Call me today to explore the possibilities. 16 hours of solid training is provided and we will support you in your work for humankind.

About Rainier Hospice

Location:

110711 Burnet Rd, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78758, US

Mission Statement

Rainier Hospice is committed to providing specialized care designed for people in the last phase of an incurable illness. We provide many benefits that are not possible in a traditional health-care setting. The focus of care is on pain and symptom relief so our patients can live their life in comfort and peace. Hospice is not a place, but a concept of care that can be provided wherever the patient considers home. It may be in a residential home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. We recognize the unique physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of each person receiving hospice care.

Description

Our comprehensive hospice services are provided by an interdisciplinary team of compassionate professionals. Our core team includes home-visiting physicians, skilled hospice nurses, clinical social workers, chaplains, hospice aides, specially-trained volunteers, and grief counselors. We also offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, dietary consultation, and complementary therapies such as pet, massage, and music therapy.

People who choose hospice are not giving up hope, they are in fact redefining it. Though there may no longer be a possibility of curing their illness, they redirect their hope into mending and restoring relationships, spending quality time with those they love, and finding peace and comfort.
