Our Mission: For 50 years, Meals On Wheels Atlanta has supported senior independence through meals, shelter, education and community. We deliver 130,000 nourishing meals to frail or homebound seniors in Atlanta annually, provide home repair services, manage seven senior centers, an Adult Day Health Center focused on helping seniors and their families manage Alzheimer's and dementia, and a senior companion program. The number of seniors grows daily as does the need for our services.
Outline of Community Speaker and Advocate: speakers help older adults and maintain healthy independent lifestyles by making public presentations, answering specific questions on the importance of preventative services and provide information on available ways to support our mission through volunteering, advocacy and donations.
Outline of Volunteers Opportunity with community speaker and Advocate : Duties would include - representing Meals On Wheels Atlanta at community events like company volunteer presentations, volunteer and college fairs, community trade shows; Attend community events; make presentations regarding Meals On Wheels programs and preventative services; Travel to specified locations (senior centers, congregate residences or organization locations) to provide presentations; Handle general administrative tasks connected to presentations and reporting community outreach; Distribute appropriate information and brochures to interested people about our programs; Maintain strict confidentiality standards.
