During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Well, if you're reading this post you're obviously looking for some way to volunteer SO, buckle up, because you've found THE place you should put your time into. Ruff Start Rescue is a foster home-based Non-Profit 501c3, No-Kill dog and cat rescue based in Central Minnesota. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats - heck, we've even rescued a chicken or two along the way! We work tirelessly to place these animals in new loving homes and would love to have YOU as a part of our team!
The Foster Coordinator helps with processing our applications for new fosters by completing application processing, doing background and reference checks, etc. Once the applications are finalized, Foster Coordinators complete a 1-hour orientation with new fosters - sharing with them important information and quick tips on how to help them most be successful as a Ruff Start foster. The Foster Coordinator role is unique in that it can be done with some aspects such as the training done in-person or, if you’d prefer - it can be done 100% remotely via phone and email. This is a potential foster’s first contact with Ruff Start and is a great way to help us save even more animals!
If you’re looking for more information about this role and other ways to volunteer with Ruff Start Rescue, please fill out a volunteer application and make sure to write which position(s) you're interested in. Thank you for considering volunteering with Ruff Start Rescue!

Who We Are & How We Do It
We are a foster based animal rescue based out of Central MN. We are a No-Kill dog and cat rescue organization. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs and rabbits. We all work very hard to place them in new loving homes. We have a facility in Princeton for staff and supplies, but we operate throughout all of central MN. In fact, we have most of our fosters in the twin cities and surrounding areas.
This group could not survive without all of our wonderful volunteers who spend countless hours devoting time to save lives. Most volunteers work full time jobs, have children, their own animals, etc and have a very busy schedule. So if your phone calls or emails are not answered by a live person right away, it’s probably because we are at work and will call you as soon as we can.

We'll work with your schedule.
