You don't have a lot of time to volunteer, but it would feel great to do something, especially if the timing was flexible. We have an opportunity that will take 30 minutes per week, any day of the week, and would be a huge help putting shoes on the feet of those in need.
We are Changing Footprints, and we collect gently worn shoes, sort them, and provide them free of cost to local non-profits such as Wheeler Mission, Dress For Success, Children's Bureau, and others. Typically, those collection points are stores such as Stride Rite, Blue Mile, and Goodman Shoes, but our largest collection point is the JCC (Jewish Community Center) at 6701 Hoover Road.
We could really use someone to stop by the JCC once per week, any day of the week, any time of the day 6 AM - 9 PM, and pick up the shoes. They would be dropped off at 54th and Central, just a six minute drive away. If you were busy some weeks or traveled on vacation for a month or two, that's not a problem, we have others to cover. It's a really flexible commitment, but would make a BIG difference.
Learn more with no commitment to say yes: call Bob Broughton at 317-727-4186. It would be a real mitzvah.
