Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit fair trade store located in Fells Point. We work with over 130 artisan groups in more than 38 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, providing employment to artisan groups that would otherwise have no access to markets or income. The artisans who create these handicrafts are paid a fair, living wage. Over 70% of our artisans are women, there is no child labor, and all products are sustainably produced under safe working conditions.

As a nonprofit store, volunteers are crucial to our success! Apply now to join our fun-filled volunteer positions - greeting and interacting with customers, unpacking and checking orders, assisting with displays and operating the cash register. We welcome volunteers any time of the year. No previous experience or skills are required - just a friendly attitude and the desire to help. We ask that our volunteers work at least 8 hours per month and we have a very flexible schedule to make it easy to fit your volunteer hours into your own schedule.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email the store at baltimore@tenthousandvillages.com.

Mission Statement

Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. Description

Fair trade provides under- and unemployed artisans with an opportunity to earn vital income and improve their quality of life by establishing a sustainable market for their handcrafted products. Ten Thousand Villages is a founding member of the WFTO - the World Fair Trade Organization, a global network of more than 350 fair trade organizations in 70 countries.

Cash Advances and Prompt Final Payments
Artisans receive up to 50 percent in cash advances when an order is placed, and payment in full when an order is shipped.

A Fair Price

Long-Term Relationships
