ORGANIZATION: YMCA of Greater St Petersburg

Are you currently employed in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math or recently retired from one of these? Join us in area middle school classrooms and inspire youth's passion for STEM careers. Volunteers serve as STEM guest speakers to middle school students at BayPoint Middle School, Meadowlawn Middle School, and Pinellas Park Middle School.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides students with an overview of his/her specific STEM position

2. Addresses education required for his/her specific position

3. Gives tips or guidance to youth in pursuing a STEM career

4. Shares inspirational experiences to encourage youth to purse STEM career

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Must be able to engage and maintain attention of youth for one hour
  2. Stands for an hour or more
  3. Must be personable and uphold all values of the YMCA: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty
