Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity in your community? JASC is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and help with general hospitality tasks at our Out of the House program for seniors!
JASC's Out of the House program for independent seniors is held once a week, providing exercise, and educational opportunities, as well as activities designed for active adults that encourage socialization and address the isolation and loneliness of inactive seniors. Research has found that as seniors age, active individuals are more likely to remain in good health than inactive ones.
The ideal volunteer is kind, friendly, and has many stories and life experiences to share with our seniors. Volunteer responsibilities include serving food and drinks during Out of the House, light clean-up, and chatting with members of the program.
The Out of the House program meets each Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm at JASC, 4427 N Clark, Chicago, we ask volunteers to arrive at 9:30 am and stay until 1:30 pm to allow for set up and clean up.

Description
Founded on August 30, 1946, the Japanese American Service Committee of Chicago originally served the needs of the Issei and Nisei (Japanese immigrants and their American-born children) who left World War II internment camps to resettle in Chicago and start new lives. As the needs of the community have changed over the years, so, too, have the programs and services provided by the JASC.
