Community heart

Show some kindness to homeless individuals by celebrating their birthdays. Help bake or donate cakes and pastries for their monthly birthday dinner. You can also donate coffee ground and non-perishable creamers as well. They serve coffee to 100+ guests each week.

Calling all volunteers who love to bake and make desserts! Here's your chance to show off your mad pastry skills while helping the homeless.

The Breaking Bread ministry of LaSalle Church host a weekly dinner each Wednesday night to help feed individuals that are homeless in our community. On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, They also throw a birthday party to make sure each person they help still knows their lives matter.

Volunteers are asked to make or purchase cakes and other dessert pastries and drop them off before their actual community dinner. So you can drop off your donations anytime before 5:30 pm on Wednesday. You can also donate coffee ground and non-perishable creamers as well. They serve coffee to 100+ guests each week.

You can bake any treats you feel is appropriate to help a person feel special on their birthday. The dinner serves about 100 guests. You do not need to bake enough for all 100 guests, as other volunteers on this Meetup post will also contribute. Bake 1 to 2 dozen servings of what you like to make. You may also purchase pastries and donate it to the celebration. Drop off time is anytime on Wednesday from 7 am to 5:30 pm.

The kitchen currently has enough volunteers from their student groups to help serve dinner and does NOT need any of us to stay to help with serving dinner or dessert. We just need to drop them off.

Breaking Bread ministry reaches out to hungry and homeless individuals and families in our neighborhood. Each Wednesday evening, they serve a home-cooked meal to more than 100 guests, in a restaurant style setting to treat all guest with dignity and kindness. They also provide clothing, referrals, health services, and a family experience for their guests.

Event date: The third Wednesday of each month.
Time: You can drop off the birthday treats any time during the day from 7 am to 5:30 pm. If your food item requires refrigeration, please let the staff know to put it in the refrigerator in the dinning room.
