"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." -Leo Buscaglia.
Hospice Volunteers are one of the few who can make a true difference in someone’s life by offering a small portion of their time, energy, and skills. We are always on the lookout for such dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our dynamic Volunteer Team.
At this time, Hospice of the Chesapeake is seeking Transport volunteers to join our patient care team in efforts to better support our hospice patients who live alone in their home without any means of transportation to medical appointments, the grocery store, or other areas of interest, as these patients are no longer able to drive themselves. Generally speaking, a transport volunteer may provide transportation to 2-3 patients a month, picking up the patient from their home, dropping them off at their destination, and returning the patient back home after the appointment/errand has ended. We require all of our volunteer drivers to possess a current valid driver’s license, evidence of a driving record in good standing, and proof of automobile liability insurance.
If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity or other positions within our Volunteer Department, please contact a member of our team at (443)837-1549 or through email at joinus@hospicechesapeake.org
