Ohio Village

Engage our visitors in history programs and activities in Ohio Village, our recreated 19th-century community.

Every summer Ohio Village comes alive with costumed and non-costumed interpreters who help our visitors engage with and connect to history. Unlike our Time Share volunteers, these interpreters are "themselves," not characters from the past. Volunteers should have a love if history, strong people skills to talk with (not at!) visitors of all ages to help them make the most of their visit by assisting with fun historic activities in the village.

Requirements: Volunteers must able to interact with all ages and learning styles and be able to stand and walk in summer heat . Ages 14+, great summer opportunity for students

Time Commitment: This position requires flexible availability Wed-Sun, Memorial Day - Labor Day, for at least one ½ day shift per week, plus seasonal training session offered. Additional opportunities are available year-round after a full season in Ohio Village.

Training: Training to be provided throughout the year. All Village Interpreters must spend their first season as "t-shirt" volunteers, before doing costumed-interpretation. All Village Interpreters must also do at least 2 days training in the Ohio History Center so as to be able to answer all visitor questions.

All volunteers must complete one training session.
