Highland Community College

Volunteer tutors in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Ogle counties assist eligible adults in improving their math, reading, writing or English language skills. You will tutor the subject area you prefer and at the time you prefer. Tutoring is generally one to two hours per week. Adult learners are tutored individually or in small groups. Virtual tutoring using Zoom or face-to-face tutoring with precautions is available.

The Highland Community College Volunteer Literacy Program is part of the Adult Education Department and is funded by a grant from the State of Illinois. Volunteer tutors are recruited, trained and matched with eligible adults wanting to improve their math, reading, writing or English language skills. Adult learners are tutored on a one-with-one basis or in small groups under teacher direction.
