SSM Health at Home (formerly Home Health United) - Hospice is seeking Veterans interested in becoming hospice volunteers. Hospice volunteers provide a valuable service to SSM Health at Home - Hospice. As a member of the hospice team, volunteers provide services to individuals and families dealing with terminal illness and/or provide administrative support to the program. Many Veterans receiving hospice wish to be connected with a volunteer who is also a Veteran.

Hospice volunteers provide so much to patients and families by offering a few hours of time and companionship. Patient visits might include companionship support, reading to patients, assisting with letter writing, helping with errands, providing respite to families, or performing light household tasks. Volunteers do not provide hands on care, as that is handled by SSM Health at Home - Hospice staff.

Volunteering times are flexible. Free, comprehensive training is provided, and no medical experience is necessary. Volunteers take part in annual trainings and maintain volunteer requirements. Help honor a veteran and become a SSM Health at Home- Hospice Volunteer. Request an application today.
