The Ronald McDonald House is a Home-Away-From-Home for families who have children receiving care from UVM's Children's Hospital. These children may be babies born too soon struggling to grow strong enough to go home, young children fighting for their lives from cancer or teenagers recovering from a car accident. Having a child in the hospital at any time is very difficult, but over Thanksgiving, Christmas or other winter holidays there is added stress. We are in need of volunteers to be here for these families, to keep the Ronald McDonald House open and welcoming for these families even through the otherwise joyous holiday season.

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.
Description
Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Its programs are grassroots-driven to enable the Charity to offer help where children need it most - right in their own communities. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children's lives through its global network of local Chapters in 52 countries and its three core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. These programs provide a bridge to accessible health care and allow families more time together, which help in the healing process. RMHC and its global network of local Chapters also have awarded more than $460 million in grants and program services to children's programs around the world.
RMHC of Burlington, VT operates The Ronald McDonald House in the heart of downtown Burlington just a few blocks away from the University of Vermont Children's Hospital; The Ronald McDonald Family Room located right on the patient care floor of UVM Children's Hospital; and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile that partners with rural schools around the state to provide dental services to youth who are in need.
