This position is responsible for supporting the Development & Events Manager in the preparation of special events and fundraisers in the state of Florida. Duties include donor and auction data entry, coordination of weekly thank you letters, updating community calendars and researching grants and local resources. The intern will have an opportunity to participate in special assignments and projects to enhance professional development and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in confirming/soliciting auction items from local businesses.
  • Create a spreadsheet of potential vendors and companies to solicit auction items.
  • Data entry in online donor database.
  • Research and write grants.
  • Research entertainment, event logistics, and/or local resources in key event cities.
  • Prepare and issue weekly donor thank you letters and mailing.
  • Work with local businesses to help promote special events via local community calendars.
  • Participate in event planning committees (when applicable).

Time Commitment:

  • 12-15 hours per week
  • Activities can be performed at the FCS Foundation office

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and Internet skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must receive credit through college or university, unpaid opportunity.

The Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) Foundation provides financial support to qualified adult cancer patients in the state of Florida for expenses such as rent or mortgage, car payments and utility bills. By giving patients peace of mind in knowing that their bills are being paid while they are undergoing treatment, the FCS Foundation allows them to concentrate on what really matters - fighting cancer.

Description

The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization was founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The FCS Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians in covering all overhead expenses for the Foundation, 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
