Help seniors and others with preparing and e-filing their federal and California income taxes. We're looking for both tax preparers (we'll train you, at no cost, of course, on both tax law and the software we use for tax preparation) and greeters ("client facilitators) who answer general client questions, help manage the flow of clients to the tax preparers, and help organize taxpayer paperwork.
If you're done your own taxes with a computer program such as TurboTax, and found the experience interesting, then you're certainly able to become a tax preparer (you do have to pass a test, annually, following the training you get). All tax returns are worked on by at least two people, and there is always plenty of help available, so inexperience isn't an issue.
Our other position - client facilitator - is also critical to a well-organized and smoothly functioning site. It is also a possible first step to becoming a tax preparer, if you're so inclined.
