We're looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our all-volunteer program in Sonoma County during the upcoming tax season, which starts around February 1st. Volunteers are needed to prepare tax returns, help organize client paperwork, and/or work from home, making appointments. (If you have a background with computers, or are interested in helping with administrative work, we also can use your skills.)
As a volunteer, you'll be an essential part of a program that provides an important, completely free service to very grateful clients, working with a great group of dedicated volunteers, and learning new skills, particularly if you become a tax counselor. We provide all training, in December and January, at no cost (of course).
Your commitment is for five or more hours per week, from the beginning of February through the middle of April. (And yes, if you have to be out of town for a week or two during that time, that's fine.) We recommend that volunteers work two non-consecutive days per week; we're open weekdays during the day, since our focus is on seniors, most of whom are retired. (But we serve taxpayers of any age, and no, AARP membership is not required for volunteers or taxpayers that we help.)
We have sites in Sonoma County from Sebastopol to Sonoma Valley, and from Healdsburg to Petaluma, so it's quite likely that we have a site close to where you live.
For more information visit taxaide.info/ca-sonoma-county or call 707-327-2401.
Our two new-volunteer orientation days, for the tax season beginning in February 2025, are at the Franklin Park Clubhouse, 2095 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa:
* November 21, 2024, 1-2:30 p.m.
* December 5, 2024, 10-11:30 a.m.
We hope to hear from you soon!
