AARP Tax-Aide

Help seniors and others with preparing and e-filing their federal and California income taxes. We're looking for both tax preparers (we'll train you, at no cost, of course, on both tax law and the software we use for tax preparation) and greeters ("client facilitators) who answer general client questions, help manage the flow of clients to the tax preparers, and help organize taxpayer paperwork.

If you've done your own taxes with a computer program such as TurboTax, and found the experience interesting, then you might want to become a tax preparer (you do have to pass a test, annually, following the training you get). All tax returns that we prepare are worked on by at least two people, and there is always plenty of help available, so inexperience isn't an issue.

Our other position - client facilitator - is critical for a well-organized and smoothly functioning Tax-Aide site. It is also a possible first step to becoming a tax preparer, if you're so inclined. (No computer skills are required for client facilitators.)

Our main site is at the Franklin Park Clubhouse in Santa Rosa, but we have eight other sites, in Sonoma County, from Healdsburg to Petaluma, and from Sebastopol to the City of Sonoma.

Call 707-327-2401 to attend a short informational meeting on 9/15 or 10/13 from 10am-11:30am at Franklin Park Clubhouse, 2095 Franklin Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404
