Garden to Table volunteers picking fruit

The Neighborhood Harvest Program is one of the many programs that falls under the Garden to Table umbrella. Through this program we organize weekly fruit harvest events in San Jose. Every month we harvest an average of 1,000 lbs. of fruit and donate it to local food programs. This program takes advantage of the abundance of fruit trees throughout San Jose to address two key challenges in our food system: food waste, and a lack of access to healthy food options.

We are looking for dedicated community members to lead our fruit harvesting events. We will provide equipment and volunteers so all that you would need to do is show up and harvest some fruit with a fun loving group of people once a month. We ask that you are comfortable leading groups of 5-10 volunteers to harvest fruit in backyard gardens, 18 years old and comfortable driving a truck, able to work with harvesting equipment, and attend one training event.

Let us know if you have an interest. Please provide your availability and a brief explanation of why you are interested. We can answer any questions or concerns.
