Garden to Table volunteers picking fruit

The Neighborhood Harvest Program is one of the many programs that falls under the Garden to Table umbrella. Through this program we organize weekly fruit harvest events in San Jose. Every month we harvest an average of 1,000 lbs. of fruit and donate it to local food programs. This program takes advantage of the abundance of fruit trees throughout San Jose to address two key challenges in our food system: food waste, and a lack of access to healthy food options.

We are launching a new volunteer program to engage community members in finding homeowners to share their fruit! This position will involve surveying your neighborhood for fruit trees, and reaching out to your neighbors to let them know about the Neighborhood Harvest Program. We are always looking for new trees to harvest.

This position is flexible, but will usually take place on Saturdays or weekday evenings. Let us know if you have an interest. Please provide your availability and a brief explanation of why you are interested. We can answer any questions or concerns.
