We offer flexible shifts, you can sign up for what works for you!
Purpose:
Life is about connecting with those around us and sharing stories. The NCSML tells stories through guided school tours, engaging exhibits and interactive activities. If you are outgoing and interested in working with kids, consider becoming a School Tour Volunteer.
During the school year, NCSML volunteers connect with students throughout the area and help them develop critical thinking skills, and inspire them to learn more. The goal is to share the Czech and Slovak cultures and express how they can connect with cultures around the world. School tours are booked for both Fall and Spring semesters.
Duties:
Bring history alive by sharing real immigration stories and experiences with Elementary through High School Students! This is a unique and special experience only you and the students get to experience.
School Tour Volunteers give tours of our immigrant home, lead a craft activity in the classroom, explore special exhibits, and a fact finding activity in the library. Staff will fully train and assist volunteers in their first couple of school tours to ensure each volunteer is comfortable before leading an activity on their own.
Become a volunteer today and make an impact on today's youth as they get to explore and learn about life long ago and the Czech & Slovak Immigration story.
Requirements:
- Must have availability during weekdays and enjoy working with young children.
- Ability to think on your feet and problem solve.
- Enjoy talking to groups/public.
- Volunteer for shifts that are usually 1-2 hours, between 9:00am-2:30pm. (Can involve standing for this portion of time)
