  • 5 people are interested

The Utica Children’s Museum is operating in near start-up mode and is in the process of being transformed into a hands-on, interactive destination that will impact more than 100,000 visitors over the next five years.

MODEL TRAIN ENTHUSIASTS
We are seeking a motivated individual to assist staff with operating the model train displays in the Museum. You would operate the trains, work on the train displays, and even develop fun, educational programming if you were interested.

Ideally, you already have a passion for model trains and would like to share your enthusiasm and knowledge with others. You can interact with the public in a warm and friendly manner.

If you know how to repair or diagnosis problems with the engines, that would be great however we would also be interested in you if you are willing to learn these skills.

Must be passionate about children’s museums and working with a child’s natural curiosity to learn.

As we are open during the day, we could use help between the hours of 9:30 to 4:30 Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and from 12 to 5:00 on Sunday. Available shifts of 2h-3hrs a day are available to operate our model train set up, along with other variable time slots just let us know when you are available!

We seek someone that can commit a minimum of 5 hours a week for no less than four months. You can certainly volunteer more as trains are an important part of the Museum’s mission and we are going to explore building larger exhibits and ways in which to add a hands-on component.
