Purpose:

One Cool Earth seeks assistance with constructing and maintaining new and existing infrastructure in our outdoor classrooms and gardens. The opportunity allows for flexibility as the various tasks and projects vary at each school site. Ultimately, the gardens are used to help improve student learning and health. Help collaborate with us by creating beautiful, functional outdoor classrooms for the students in Paso Robles!

Location(s):

• Public schools in Paso Robles

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide manual labor in new or existing gardens

• Such tasks include: levelling, site preparation, installation of pathways, clearing turf for garden location, hauling wood/ material, irrigation upgrade/ repair

• Build tool sheds, greenhouses, garden beds, picnic tables, informational materials (chalkboards and white boards), signs, fences, irrigation systems, etc.

Time Requirements/ Frequency:

• Organized group work days or done independently (flexible)

• 1-3 hour intervals (weekdays and weekends during school year and/ or summer)

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous construction experience not required, but it helps!

• Provide one’s own transportation to and from the site

• 18 years and older or with parent permission

• Volunteer Paperwork at school site will need to be completed

Training:

• 1 hour orientation

• May require further training depending on task
